The T.C. Arapaima Tropical Fish Park,

The T.C. Arapaima Tropical Fish Park, or popularly known as the Saleng Zoo, is a 10ha-park. It began as an Arapaima fish farm but since then it has grown into a miniature zoo with all kinds of animals, proving to be an ideal place for children to gain knowledge about wildlife.Some 30 different species of animals can be found here such as tiger, lion, crocodile, panther, African baboons, wild boar and bears.Apart from that, the mini-zoo also has macaws, macaques, crocodiles, bears, peacocks, horses, ostriches, iguanas, pythons, king cobras, cassowaries, porcupines and turtles.

The park’s main feature was the Arapaima fish, 48 in all, making them the largest collection of such fish in Johor.Some of the Arapaimas are as long as 2.5 metres and weigh 120kg. He said the place gained fame because of its large collection of Arapaima fish.

Surrounded by coconut trees and the beautifully landscaped, the Saleng Zoo offers a cool and relaxing setting for the visitors. The park offers horse rides at RM10 per child under the supervision of the animal trainer. Scientific data and interesting facts about the animals are displayed to enrich the knowledge of visitors.

Introduction board of one the Araipama fish ponds states that the fish, which are currently six-and-a-half feet would grow up to 14 feet.

The park, located along Jalan Kulai, about 4km from Senai town, is open from 9.30am to 7pm daily. Adults are charged RM12 while children below 12 are charged half the price.
