The Tanjung Piai and Pulau Kukup national parks are home to pristine mangrove swamps, and the wetlands are brimming with wildlife. These two sites, which come under the Johor National Parks Corporation, were declared “Ramsar Sites” (or “wetlands of international importance”) by the Geneva-based Ramsar Convention Bureau.

The idyllic islands of Pulau Rawa, Pulau Sibu, Pulau Aur, Pulau Besar and Pulau Pemanggil, off Johor’s eastern coast, offer excellent scuba diving and snorkelling sites.

Johor has the distinction of having three of the five Ramsar sites in the country.
